No-retention by design. The addresses you send to our API are processed in memory only. We parse them, return the result, and discard the input. We do not store, log, or retain the address text you submit — ever.

1. Who we are

parseaddr ("we", "us") operates a hosted address-parsing API. For UK GDPR / Data Protection Act 2018 purposes, we act as a data processor for the address content our customers send, and as a controller for the limited account data described below. Contact: privacy@parseaddr.com.

2. Address content you submit

Addresses may constitute personal data. Our stance is the strongest available:

Input addresses are held in memory only for the duration of the request.
We do not write the address text to disk, databases, logs, or backups.
We do not use your submitted addresses to train models or for any secondary purpose.
Because nothing is retained, there is no address-content data to export, rectify, or erase after a request completes.

3. Account & usage data we do keep

To run accounts and billing we store the minimum necessary:

Account: email address, plan, and (for paid plans) a Stripe customer identifier.
Usage metadata: API key identifier, timestamp, endpoint called, and call count — used for quotas and billing. This never includes the address text.

Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.

4. Legal bases

We process account and usage metadata to perform our contract with you (providing the API) and for our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service. Address content is processed solely on your instruction as our customer.

5. Sub-processors

Stripe — payments and billing.
Our hosting provider — compute for the API (transient request processing only).

6. Retention

Address content: none (in-memory only). Account and usage metadata: retained while your account is active and for as long as required for billing, tax, and legal obligations, then deleted.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data, and may object to or restrict processing. Email privacy@parseaddr.com. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

8. Changes

We will update this page and its "last updated" date when this policy changes materially.
